Amish Country Casserole

Ingredients:
1 lb ground beef
1 onion, chopped
1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
1 can (10.5 oz) cream of chicken soup
1 cup sour cream
1 package (16 oz) egg noodles, cooked and drained
1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
1 cup frozen peas (optional)
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp black pepper
1/2 cup crushed potato chips or breadcrumbs (for topping)

Directions:
Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
Cook Beef: In a large skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat, breaking it apart with a spoon as it cooks. Drain any excess fat and stir in the chopped onion. Cook for 2-3 minutes until the onion becomes soft and translucent.
Combine Soup Mixture: In a large bowl, combine the cream of mushroom soup, cream of chicken soup, sour cream, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix well.
Assemble Casserole: Add the cooked beef and onion mixture to the soup mixture. Stir in the cooked egg noodles and frozen peas (if using). Mix until everything is well combined.
Add Cheese: Fold in 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese until evenly distributed throughout the casserole.
Transfer to Baking Dish: Pour the casserole mixture into the prepared baking dish and spread it out evenly.
Add Topping: Sprinkle the top with the remaining 1/2 cup of shredded cheddar cheese and a layer of crushed potato chips or breadcrumbs.
Bake: Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the casserole is bubbly and the top is golden brown.
Serve: Allow to cool for 5 minutes before serving.
