Acon Cream Cheese Biscuits

Acon Cream Cheese Biscuits

Ingredients:
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
1/2 cup cold unsalted butter, cut into small cubes
4 oz cream cheese, cold and cubed
1/2 cup cooked bacon, crumbled
3/4 cup cold buttermilk (plus extra for brushing)
1 tablespoon chopped chives (optional)

Directions:
Preheat the Oven:
Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Prepare the Dry Ingredients:
In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and garlic powder (if using). This creates the base for the biscuits.
Cut in the Butter and Cream Cheese:
Add the cold, cubed butter and cream cheese to the dry ingredients. Using a pastry cutter or your fingers, work the butter and cream cheese into the flour mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs (pea-sized pieces).
Add Bacon:
Stir in the crumbled bacon and chives (if using) to evenly distribute them throughout the dough.
Add the Buttermilk:
Slowly pour in the cold buttermilk and stir gently with a fork until the dough just comes together. Be careful not to overmix; you want the dough to be slightly sticky and soft.
Form the Biscuits:
Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface. Gently pat it into a rectangle about 1-inch thick. Use a biscuit cutter or a round cookie cutter to cut out biscuits. Place them on the prepared baking sheet, about 1 inch apart.
Brush with Buttermilk:
For a golden, crisp top, brush the tops of the biscuits lightly with some additional buttermilk.
Bake:
Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the biscuits are golden brown and puffed up.
Serve:
Serve warm with extra butter or cream cheese for a delicious, savory treat. These are perfect for breakfast, brunch, or alongside dinner!
