Easy Peach Bread Pudding Recipe
Ingredients:
4 cups day-old bread (French bread or brioche works great), cut into cubes
2 cups fresh peaches (peeled and chopped) or 1 can of peach slices, drained
1 1/2 cups whole milk
1/2 cup heavy cream
1/2 cup granulated sugar
3 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
Pinch of salt
2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
Optional: Powdered sugar for dusting or whipped cream for serving
Instructions:
1. Preheat the Oven:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
Grease a 9×9-inch baking dish or a similar-sized casserole dish with butter or cooking spray.
2. Prepare the Bread and Peaches:
Cut the bread into cubes and place them in the prepared baking dish.
If using fresh peaches, peel and chop them into small pieces. If using canned peaches, drain and chop them. Scatter the chopped peaches over the bread cubes.
3. Make the Custard:
In a large bowl, whisk together the milk, heavy cream, sugar, eggs, vanilla extract, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt until fully combined and smooth.
4. Combine Bread and Custard:
Pour the custard mixture evenly over the bread and peaches, making sure all the bread is soaked. Gently press the bread down into the liquid to ensure it absorbs the custard.
Drizzle the melted butter over the top.
5. Bake:
Bake the bread pudding in the preheated oven for 40-50 minutes, or until the top is golden and the custard is set. A toothpick inserted into the center should come out clean.
6. Serve:
Let the bread pudding cool for a few minutes before serving.
Optionally, dust with powdered sugar or serve with whipped cream for extra sweetness.
