🍝 Classic Comfort Skillet Spaghetti
Ingredients:
907g ground chuck
1 can (400g) diced tomatoes
1 can (400g) crushed tomatoes
2 cans (800g total) tomato sauce
3 tbsp olive oil
5 cloves garlic, minced
1 large onion (or 2 medium), diced
1 green bell pepper, diced
Salt & pepper to taste
1 tsp dried oregano
1 tsp dried basil
1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
340g spaghetti (uncooked)
2 ½ cups water or beef broth
Fresh parsley and Parmesan for garnish
Instructions:
Sauté the Vegetables:
In a large deep skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add diced onions and green pepper. Cook until soft, about 5 minutes. Add minced garlic and cook another minute until fragrant.
Brown the Meat:
Add ground chuck to the skillet. Cook until browned and crumbled. Drain excess fat if necessary.
Add the Tomatoes:
Stir in diced tomatoes, crushed tomatoes, and tomato sauce. Add oregano, basil, red pepper flakes (if using), salt, and pepper. Simmer for 5–7 minutes.
Add Pasta & Liquid:
Break spaghetti in half and stir it into the skillet. Pour in water or broth, making sure pasta is mostly submerged.
Cook the Spaghetti:
Bring to a boil, then reduce to a simmer. Cover and cook for 12–15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until pasta is tender and sauce thickens. Add more liquid if needed.
Serve:
Garnish with chopped parsley and freshly grated Parmesan.
Optional Add-Ins:
A dash of sugar to balance the acidity of the tomatoes.
Sautéed mushrooms or zucchini for extra veggies.
