Ham and Cheese Pinwheels
Ingredients:
1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
1/2 cup Dijon or honey mustard
1 cup shredded Swiss or cheddar cheese
8-10 slices deli ham
1 large egg, beaten (for egg wash)
Fresh parsley, chopped (optional, for garnish)
Directions:
Prepare the Puff Pastry:
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Roll out the thawed puff pastry on a lightly floured surface until it’s smooth and slightly thinner.
Spread Mustard and Add Ham and Cheese:
Spread a thin layer of Dijon or honey mustard over the puff pastry. Layer the ham slices evenly on top, followed by a layer of shredded cheese.
Roll and Slice:
Starting from one edge, carefully roll the puff pastry into a tight log. Use a sharp knife to slice the log into 1-inch thick rounds.
Egg Wash and Bake:
Place the pinwheels on the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between each. Brush the tops with the beaten egg to give a golden finish. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the pinwheels are puffed and golden brown.
Garnish and Serve:
Remove from the oven and let them cool slightly. Sprinkle with fresh chopped parsley if desired. Serve warm!
