Smothered Pork Chops
Ingredients:
4 bone-in pork chops (about 1-inch thick)
1 cup all-purpose flour
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 large onion, thinly sliced
3 cloves garlic, minced
2 cups chicken broth
1 cup heavy cream
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1 teaspoon dried thyme
1 teaspoon dried rosemary
1/2 teaspoon paprika
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
Salt and pepper to taste
Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)
Directions:
Prepare the Pork Chops:
Pat the pork chops dry with paper towels and season both sides with salt and pepper.
Dredge each pork chop in flour, shaking off the excess.
Brown the Pork Chops:
In a large skillet or Dutch oven, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat.
Add the pork chops and cook until browned on both sides, about 4-5 minutes per side. Remove the pork chops from the skillet and set aside.
Sauté the Onions and Garlic:
In the same skillet, add the sliced onions and cook until they are softened and golden brown, about 5-7 minutes.
Add the minced garlic and cook for another 1 minute until fragrant.
Make the Gravy:
Pour in the chicken broth, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom of the skillet.
Stir in the heavy cream, Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, dried thyme, rosemary, paprika, and garlic powder.
Bring the mixture to a simmer and let it cook for 3-4 minutes to thicken slightly.
Simmer the Pork Chops:
Return the pork chops to the skillet, making sure they are covered with the gravy.
Reduce the heat to low, cover the skillet, and let it simmer for 30-40 minutes, or until the pork chops are cooked through and tender.
Serve:
Remove the pork chops from the skillet and place them on a serving platter.
Spoon the gravy over the pork chops.
Garnish with fresh parsley if desired.
