Mexican Restaurant Cheese Dip

Mexican Restaurant Cheese Dip

Ingredients:
1 lb white American cheese, shredded or cubed
1/2 cup milk
1/4 cup water
1/4 cup diced green chilies (canned)
1 tsp cumin
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/4 tsp onion powder
1/4 tsp cayenne pepper (optional, for heat)
Fresh cilantro, chopped (for garnish)

Directions:
Prepare Ingredients:
Shred or cube the white American cheese. If using block cheese, make sure it’s finely shredded or cubed for easier melting.
Melt the Cheese:
In a medium saucepan over medium-low heat, add the milk and water. Gradually add the shredded or cubed cheese, stirring constantly to prevent it from sticking or burning.
Add Flavor:
Once the cheese begins to melt, stir in the diced green chilies, cumin, garlic powder, onion powder, and cayenne pepper (if using). Continue stirring until the cheese is completely melted and the mixture is smooth and creamy.
Adjust Consistency:
If the dip is too thick, add more milk or water a tablespoon at a time until you reach your desired consistency.
Serve:
Pour the cheese dip into a serving bowl and garnish with chopped fresh cilantro. Serve immediately with tortilla chips, nachos, or as a topping for your favorite Mexican dishes.
