Italian Stromboli
Ingredients:
1 lb pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)
1/2 cup marinara sauce (optional, for dipping)
8 oz thinly sliced salami
8 oz thinly sliced ham
8 oz pepperoni slices
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1/2 tsp dried oregano
1/2 tsp dried basil
1/4 tsp garlic powder
1/4 tsp crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
1 tbsp olive oil
1 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Directions:
Preheat the Oven:
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Prepare the Dough:
On a lightly floured surface, roll out the pizza dough into a large rectangle, about 10×14 inches.
Layer the Meats and Cheese:
Layer the salami, ham, and pepperoni slices evenly over the dough, leaving a 1-inch border around the edges.
Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella and grated Parmesan cheese evenly over the meats.
Sprinkle the dried oregano, basil, garlic powder, and crushed red pepper flakes (if using) over the cheese.
Roll the Stromboli:
Starting from one of the long edges, carefully roll the dough into a tight log, tucking in the sides as you go to seal the ends. Pinch the seam to seal the stromboli.
Egg Wash and Bake:
Place the stromboli seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet. Brush the top with the beaten egg to give it a golden crust.
Make a few slits on top of the stromboli with a sharp knife to allow steam to escape during baking.
Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and fully cooked.
Serve:
Let the stromboli cool slightly before slicing. Serve with warm marinara sauce for dipping and garnish with fresh chopped parsley.
