Dr. Pepper Barbecue Sloppy Joes

Dr. Pepper Barbecue Sloppy Joes

Ingredients:
1 lb ground beef
1 small onion, finely chopped
1/2 cup Dr. Pepper soda
1/2 cup barbecue sauce (your favorite)
1 tbsp tomato paste
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1 tbsp brown sugar
1 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp smoked paprika (optional)
Salt and pepper, to taste
Hamburger buns
Pickles or coleslaw (optional, for topping)

Directions:
Brown the Beef:
In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef and chopped onion until the beef is browned and the onion is soft. Drain excess grease.
Add the Flavor:
Stir in the garlic powder, Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika (if using), and tomato paste. Mix well and let cook for 1-2 minutes to combine the flavors.
Add Dr. Pepper and BBQ Sauce:
Pour in the Dr. Pepper, barbecue sauce, and brown sugar. Stir everything together and bring to a simmer.
Simmer the Sloppy Joe Mixture:
Let the mixture simmer over medium-low heat for about 10 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Serve:
Spoon the Sloppy Joe mixture onto hamburger buns. Add pickles, coleslaw, or any toppings of your choice.
