French Garlic Philly Cheese Steak Bread
Ingredients:
For the Garlic Bread:
1 large French bread loaf, cut in half lengthwise
1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
4 cloves garlic, minced
2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
1/4 teaspoon salt
For the Philly Cheesesteak Filling:
1 lb thinly sliced beef steak (ribeye or sirloin works best)
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 green bell pepper, thinly sliced
1 small onion, thinly sliced
8 oz mushrooms, sliced (optional)
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
Salt and black pepper, to taste
6-8 slices provolone cheese (or mozzarella)
1/2 cup shredded mozzarella (optional, for extra cheesiness)
Instructions:
1. Prepare the Garlic Bread:
Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
In a small bowl, mix together the butter, minced garlic, chopped parsley, and salt until well combined.
Spread the garlic butter mixture evenly on both halves of the French bread.
Place the bread on a baking sheet and bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the bread is toasted and slightly golden. Set aside.
2. Cook the Philly Cheesesteak Filling:
Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
Add the sliced onions, bell peppers, and mushrooms (if using). Sauté for 5-7 minutes, or until the vegetables are softened and slightly caramelized.
Push the vegetables to one side of the skillet, and add the thinly sliced beef to the other side. Cook the beef for 4-5 minutes or until browned, stirring occasionally.
Stir in the Worcestershire sauce, and season with salt and black pepper. Mix the beef and vegetables together.
3. Assemble the French Garlic Philly Cheese Steak Bread:
Place the cooked beef and vegetable mixture evenly over the garlic bread halves.
Top the beef with slices of provolone cheese, and sprinkle shredded mozzarella on top if you want extra cheesiness.
4. Bake:
Return the assembled bread to the oven and bake for an additional 5-7 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
5. Serve:
Slice the French Garlic Philly Cheese Steak Bread into pieces and serve immediately.
