Texas Toast Sloppy Joes

Texas Toast Sloppy Joes

Ingredients:
1 lb ground beef
1 small onion, diced
1/2 green bell pepper, diced
1/4 cup ketchup
1 tbsp brown sugar
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp mustard
1 (8 oz) can tomato sauce
1 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp paprika
Salt and pepper, to taste
8 slices frozen Texas toast (garlic flavored or plain)
1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
Fresh parsley, chopped (optional, for garnish)

Directions:
Cook Ground Beef:
In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned, breaking it apart as it cooks. Drain any excess grease.
Add Veggies:
Add the diced onion and green bell pepper to the beef. Cook for 3-4 minutes, until the vegetables are softened.
Prepare Sloppy Joe Mixture:
Stir in the ketchup, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, tomato sauce, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper. Simmer the mixture for 10-12 minutes, allowing the flavors to blend and the sauce to thicken.
Bake Texas Toast:
While the meat mixture is simmering, prepare the Texas toast according to package directions. Bake until golden and crispy.
Assemble Sloppy Joes:
Once the Texas toast is ready, spoon the Sloppy Joe mixture generously over each slice of toast.
Top with Cheese:
Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese over the Sloppy Joe mixture. Place the assembled Texas toast back in the oven for 2-3 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
Garnish and Serve:
Remove from the oven, garnish with fresh parsley if desired, and serve immediately.
