German Chocolate Brownies
Ingredients:
For the Brownie Base:
1 cup unsalted butter, melted
1 ½ cups granulated sugar
4 large eggs
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
½ tsp salt
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
For the Coconut Pecan Topping:
1 cup evaporated milk
1 cup granulated sugar
3 egg yolks
½ cup unsalted butter, cubed
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 ½ cups sweetened shredded coconut
1 cup chopped pecans
Directions:
Prepare the Brownies:
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper.
In a large bowl, whisk together the melted butter and sugar until combined.
Add the eggs and vanilla extract, mixing until smooth.
Sift in the flour, cocoa powder, and salt, stirring until just combined. Fold in the chocolate chips.
Pour the brownie batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly.
Bake the Brownies:
Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs. Set aside to cool while preparing the coconut pecan topping.
Make the Coconut Pecan Topping:
In a medium saucepan, combine evaporated milk, sugar, egg yolks, and butter. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens (about 10 minutes).
Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract, shredded coconut, and chopped pecans. Allow the topping to cool slightly.
Assemble the Brownies:
Once the brownies have cooled, spread the coconut pecan topping evenly over the top.
Let the topping set for 10-15 minutes before slicing into squares.
Serve:
Serve these decadent German Chocolate Brownies as a rich dessert or snack. Enjoy!
