Texas Roadhouse Style Rattlesnake Bites

Texas Roadhouse Style Rattlesnake Bites

Ingredients:
8 oz pepper jack cheese, shredded
3-4 jalapeños, finely chopped
1 cup all-purpose flour
2 large eggs, beaten
1 ½ cups seasoned breadcrumbs
½ teaspoon garlic powder
½ teaspoon onion powder
¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional, for extra heat)
Salt and pepper, to taste
Vegetable oil (for frying)

Instructions:
Step 1: Prepare the Cheese Mixture
In a medium bowl, combine the shredded pepper jack cheese and finely chopped jalapeños. Mix well.
Form the cheese mixture into small bite-sized balls, about 1 inch in diameter. Place the cheese balls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Freeze the cheese balls for at least 30 minutes to firm them up before frying.
Step 2: Set Up the Breading Station
Place the flour in one shallow bowl.
In a second bowl, beat the eggs.
In a third bowl, combine the breadcrumbs, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, salt, and pepper.
Step 3: Bread the Cheese Balls
Remove the frozen cheese balls from the freezer.
Roll each cheese ball in the flour, then dip it into the beaten eggs, and finally coat it in the seasoned breadcrumbs.
Repeat this process for all the cheese balls, ensuring they are fully coated.
Step 4: Fry the Rattlesnake Bites
In a large, deep skillet or Dutch oven, heat about 2 inches of vegetable oil over medium heat to 350°F.
Carefully fry the cheese balls in batches, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Fry for 2-3 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.
Use a slotted spoon to transfer the fried cheese bites to a paper towel-lined plate to drain any excess oil.
Step 5: Serve
Serve the Rattlesnake Bites hot with your favorite dipping sauces like ranch or chipotle mayo for a little extra zing!
