Amish Sugar Cookies Recipe

Ingredients:
1 cup unsalted butter (softened)
1 cup vegetable oil
1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup powdered sugar
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
4 ½ cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon cream of tartar
½ teaspoon salt

Instructions:
Preheat the oven:
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone baking mats.
Cream the wet ingredients:
In a large bowl, cream together the butter, vegetable oil, granulated sugar, and powdered sugar until light and fluffy.
Add the eggs and vanilla:
Beat in the eggs, one at a time, then add the vanilla extract and mix until well combined.
Mix the dry ingredients:
In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, cream of tartar, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until a soft dough forms.
Shape the cookies:
Drop tablespoon-sized balls of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart. You can flatten the tops slightly with a fork or the bottom of a glass if desired.
Bake:
Bake in the preheated oven for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are set but the centers are still soft. The cookies should not brown much.
Cool:
Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring them to wire racks to cool completely.
