Parmesan Meatloaf Recipe
Ingredients:
1 1/2 pounds ground beef (or a mix of beef and pork)
1 cup breadcrumbs (preferably Italian-style)
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1/2 cup milk
1/2 cup onion (finely chopped)
2 cloves garlic (minced)
1 large egg
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 cup ketchup (for topping)
Fresh parsley (chopped, for garnish, optional)
Instructions:
Preheat the oven:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking dish with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
Prepare the meat mixture:
In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, milk, onion, garlic, egg, Worcestershire sauce, Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently until all ingredients are well combined. Avoid overmixing, as this can make the meatloaf tough.
Shape the meatloaf:
Transfer the meat mixture to the prepared baking dish and shape it into a loaf. Make sure it’s even in height to ensure even cooking.
Add the ketchup topping:
Spread the ketchup evenly over the top of the meatloaf. This adds flavor and keeps it moist during baking.
Bake the meatloaf:
Bake in the preheated oven for 1 hour, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (70°C). If the top is browning too quickly, you can cover it loosely with aluminum foil.
Rest and serve:
Once cooked, remove the meatloaf from the oven and let it rest for about 10 minutes before slicing. This helps retain the juices.
Garnish and enjoy:
Slice the meatloaf and garnish with fresh parsley if desired. Serve with your favorite sides, such as mashed potatoes and green beans.
