Easy Scalloped Potatoes & Ham Recipe
Ingredients:
4 cups potatoes (peeled and thinly sliced, about 4-5 medium potatoes)
2 cups cooked ham (diced)
1/4 cup unsalted butter
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
2 cups milk
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
Salt and pepper (to taste)
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
Chopped parsley (for garnish, optional)
Instructions:
Preheat the oven:
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
Prepare the sauce:
In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Whisk in the flour and cook for 1-2 minutes, stirring constantly.
Gradually add the milk, whisking continuously to avoid lumps. Cook until the mixture thickens and begins to bubble. Stir in the cheddar cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper until the cheese is melted and the sauce is smooth.
Layer the dish:
In the prepared baking dish, layer half of the sliced potatoes evenly. Top with half of the diced ham and half of the cheese sauce. Repeat the layers with the remaining potatoes, ham, and sauce.
If using, sprinkle the top with grated Parmesan cheese.
Bake:
Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake for 45 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 25-30 minutes, or until the potatoes are tender and the top is golden brown.
Garnish and serve:
Let the dish cool for 5-10 minutes before serving. Garnish with chopped parsley if desired.
