My daughter told me not to attend her wedding, fearing I would “EMBARRASS” her — but what the groom did at the altar left everyone present in shock.

After Lauren’s father passed away, I raised her alone. She was always affectionate, but when she met Ethan at college, she grew distant.

“Mom, I just need more space,” she told me.

Throughout her engagement, I persisted in requesting to meet Ethan and his family, but every meeting was postponed. Lauren wouldn’t even share a photo of her fiancé.

The pain was indescribable, yet I tried to reassure myself she had found her own happiness.

Three weeks ahead of the wedding, Lauren came to me in the kitchen.

“Ethan’s family is highly respected,” she said. “Please don’t come. You’ll feel out of place, and I can’t get through the day worrying you will EMBARRASS me.”

“Are you ashamed of me?” I asked softly.

She didn’t reply, avoiding my gaze, her answer clear.

On the morning of her wedding, I went to church only to leave my mother’s pearl locket with an usher. As the organ started playing, I sat quietly beneath the white roses in the final pew.

Lauren and Ethan looked beautiful together.

Lauren arrived at the altar without looking at me. Ethan clasped her hands, smiled, and then glanced beyond her shoulder.

At once his smile faded, and he turned COMPLETELY PALE.

He left Lauren and walked briskly down the aisle as the whole room followed him with their eyes.

“Is that really YOU?” he inquired, eyes fixed to mine.

A shudder went through me: I did not know him, but evidently, he recognized me.

Ethan hurried forward, took my arm, and led me up.

“Before we continue,” he addressed everyone, “I have something important to say. Especially to my BRIDE.”

He faced Lauren.

Once he finished talking, the 200 guests were unable to hold back tears. ⬇️
