My husband booked first-class tickets for himself and his mother, handing me economy seats for me and the kids — so I made sure to show him a lesson even before we boarded the plane.
Roger and I had been married for twelve years, parents to three lovely children.
Due to work, school, and daily life, a proper family vacation hadn’t happened in ages. When Roger proposed an anniversary trip, I felt overjoyed.
I spent weeks preparing: packing, reserving our hotel, organizing travel documents, overseeing every little thing while Roger agreed to book the flights.
About a week before our trip, he wanted his mother to join us, explaining she could assist with the kids and give us some downtime.
Although I never felt close to her, I agreed, thinking of our need for a good break.
On departure day, we reached the airport, all excited.
Roger presented me with three economy boarding passes — for me and the kids.
Puzzled, I asked where his pass was.
He lifted two first-class tickets.
“Mine and Mom’s,” he replied.
I thought it had to be a joke.
When I asked why, he just shrugged.
“Mom deserves to relax, and I want to sit with her. You’re always fine with the kids, even if they’re upset.”
I stared in disappointment.
It hurt that after everything, he didn’t think about giving me a break too.
I smiled.
Before leaving the ground, Roger learned a lesson he’s not likely to forget. ⬇️
