My MIL invited herself on our family vacation — on the very first day, she handed me a list of duties as if I were her MAID, so I decided to teach her a lesson she would never forget.

My husband and I have three young children, and we hadn’t had a vacation in quite a while. Finally, this summer, my husband, Martin, told me we were going on a trip to the ocean.

I was so happy. I had never seen the ocean before.

Then he added that he had also gotten a ticket for HIS MOTHER, Clara.

I asked:

“Wasn’t this trip supposed to be just for our family?”

He responded:

“Yeah, but Mom called and said she wanted to come with us. I couldn’t say no.”

Of course. Clara had ALWAYS been interfering with our marriage.

She was always coming over to show me how to make the sauce Martin liked, how to iron his shirts properly, and how, according to her, I should be raising our kids.

Clara frequently told me I WASN’T good enough to be her son’s wife.

Every time, I tried to keep things peaceful.

But when we settled into the hotel and went down to the beach, she handed me a piece of paper.

At the top, it read:

YOUR VACATION DUTIES:

6:30 a.m. — Get the kids dressed.

7:00 a.m. — Bring coffee to me and Martin.

8:00 a.m. — Bring breakfast down to the beach for us.

10:00 a.m. — Watch the kids in the water while Martin and I relax.

1:00 p.m. — Put the kids down for their nap.

And the timetable continued from there.

My day ended with:

9:00 p.m. — Put the kids to bed so my son can relax in peace.

And she had outlined a schedule like this for EVERY SINGLE DAY of our entire vacation.

I asked Clara if she was for real.

She smiled and said:

“Martin and I work, so we’ve earned this vacation. You stay home ALL DAY, so you HAVEN’T earned one. It’s only fair that you take care of us.”

So, apparently, caring for three young kids is just “staying home”?

When I told Martin what had taken place, he simply told me to ignore her.

That was all I could handle. My patience snapped.

I came up with MY OWN PLAN.

I went over to the hotel manager and made A FEW changes to our vacation plans.

The very next morning, Clara burst into my room and screamed:

“No! HOW DARE YOU?” ⬇️
