Just thirty minutes before the ceremony, my ex-husband’s fiancée decided Lily could no longer be flower girl—my ex-MIL’s response left the whole room in shock.
Five years have passed since my ex-husband and I divorced. Our only shared blessing is Lily, our eight-year-old daughter, bright and kind.
When my ex informed me of his remarriage, I readied myself.
His words caught me off balance.
“I want Lily to be our flower girl.”
Lily was thrilled. She watched every day pass.
She rehearsed with a silk petal basket down our hallway.
She would often ask,
“Mommy… do I look like a real princess?”
I sewed tiny pearls onto her pink dress myself over three weekends, as a new one was too expensive.
On the wedding morning, I curled her hair.
I placed a handwritten note in her basket:
“Daddy will always love you.”
A phone call came thirty minutes before the wedding—it was Lily, sobbing so much she could barely speak.
“Mommy…”
“They don’t want me anymore.”
I rushed over to the venue.
With Lily beside her, my ex’s fiancée stood by and smirked,
“I simply realized a new family should begin with NO reminders of the old one.”
Staring at Lily, she said,
“Moreover, you look TOO MUCH LIKE YOUR MOM.”
My ex remained silent.
I nearly took Lily and left immediately.
But Carol, my ex-MIL, was at the chapel doors. She had overheard everything, her jaw clenched.
She left in silence.
Fifteen minutes later, as the ceremony was about to begin, Carol entered, carrying something LONG, wrapped in white satin, her heels echoing with each step.
All eyes followed her.
She halted before the bride, smiled serenely, and spoke:
“I’m so sorry I’m late,” Carol said. “I had to run out to get YOUR SPECIAL GIFT. I think it’s exactly what this wedding is missing. Something you really deserve.”
Anticipation filled my ex and his fiancée, expecting something valuable.
When they opened it, their expressions shifted to horror.
The fiancée shrieked, “What the hell is this?!” ⬇️
