Honey Chicken

Description

This Honey Chicken recipe is sweet, savory, and sticky in all the right ways. Tender chicken strips are cooked to golden perfection and coated in a quick honey-soy glaze—perfect for weeknight dinners, meal prep, or serving over rice or noodles.

Ingredients

For the Chicken

  • 1 lb (450 g) chicken thighs or breast, cut into strips

  • Salt and pepper, to taste

  • 1 Tbsp oil (vegetable or olive oil)

For the Honey Glaze

  • ¼ cup soy sauce

  • ¼ cup honey

  • 1 Tbsp rice vinegar or apple cider vinegar

  • 2 garlic cloves, minced

  • 1 tsp ginger, grated (optional)

  • 1 tsp cornstarch mixed with 2 tsp water (for thickening, optional)

Optional Garnish

  • Sesame seeds

  • Sliced green onions

Directions

  1. Season & Cook the Chicken
Season chicken strips with salt and pepper. Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add chicken and cook 5–7 minutes, turning occasionally, until golden and cooked through. Remove chicken from skillet and set aside.

  2. Make the Glaze
In the same skillet, combine soy sauce, honey, vinegar, garlic, and ginger. Simmer for 2–3 minutes. If you prefer a thicker glaze, stir in cornstarch slurry and cook until sauce thickens.

  3. Coat the Chicken
Return cooked chicken to the skillet and toss to coat evenly in the honey glaze. Cook for 1–2 minutes to let the flavors meld.

  4. Serve
Plate chicken over steamed rice, noodles, or vegetables. Garnish with sesame seeds and green onions if desired.
