🛒 Ingredients

For the Chicken

  • 2 large boneless, skinless chicken breasts

  • 4 ounces sliced ham

  • 4 ounces Swiss cheese, sliced

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour

  • 2 large eggs, beaten

  • 1 1/2 cups breadcrumbs (panko for extra crunch)

  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

  • 1 teaspoon onion powder

  • 1 teaspoon paprika

  • Salt & black pepper, to taste

  • 2–3 tablespoons olive oil or butter for searing

For the Creamy Sauce

  • 2 tablespoons butter

  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour

  • 1 1/4 cups chicken broth

  • 1 cup heavy cream (or half-and-half)

  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard

  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

  • Optional: 1/3 cup grated Parmesan for richer flavor

🔪 Instructions

1. Prepare the Chicken

  • Slice each chicken breast horizontally but not all the way through—creating a pocket.

  • Open like a book and season the inside with salt and pepper.

  • Layer ham slices and Swiss cheese inside each chicken breast.

  • Fold back together and secure with toothpicks if needed.

2. Set Up the Breading Station

Prepare three shallow bowls:

  1. Flour seasoned with garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt & pepper

  2. Beaten eggs

  3. Breadcrumbs

Coat each stuffed chicken breast in:

  1. flour

  2. egg

  3. breadcrumbs

Press gently to help everything adhere.

3. Sear the Chicken

Heat olive oil or butter in a skillet over medium heat.
Add chicken and sear 3–4 minutes per side, until golden brown.
(Don’t worry about cooking fully—this will finish in the sauce.)

4. Make the Creamy Sauce

Remove chicken from pan and set aside.
In the same skillet:

  • Add butter and melt.

  • Stir in flour and whisk for 1 minute.

  • Slowly whisk in chicken broth and heavy cream.

  • Add Dijon mustard, garlic powder, and pepper.

  • Simmer 3–4 minutes until thickened.

Optional: Stir in Parmesan for extra richness and silky texture.

5. Finish Cooking

Return the chicken to the pan.
Spoon some sauce over the top.
Cover and simmer 15–18 minutes, or until chicken reaches 165°F and cheese is melted.

6. Serve

Remove toothpicks if used.
Plate the chicken, pour creamy sauce over top, and garnish with parsley.
