📝 Ingredients

🥓 Candied Bacon

  • 1 lb bacon

  • ½ cup brown sugar

  • 4 tbsp maple syrup

  • 2 tbsp bourbon

  • 1 tsp cracked black pepper


🍞 Dough

  • ¼ cup all-purpose flour

  • ¾ cup water

  • 3½ cups all-purpose flour

  • ⅓ cup granulated sugar

  • 2¼ tsp active dry yeast

  • ½ tsp salt

  • ½ cup warm milk

  • 1 large egg

  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter, melted


🍥 Cinnamon Filling

  • ½ cup brown sugar

  • 2 tbsp maple syrup

  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon

  • 4 tbsp softened butter


🍁 Maple Glaze

  • 1 cup powdered sugar

  • 2–3 tbsp maple syrup

  • 1 tbsp milk or cream

  • Optional: splash of bourbon


🍽️ Directions

1️⃣ Make the Candied Bacon

Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Lay bacon on a foil-lined baking sheet. Mix brown sugar, maple syrup, bourbon, and black pepper, then brush generously over bacon. Bake for 20–25 minutes until caramelized. Cool completely, then chop.


2️⃣ Prepare the Dough Starter

In a small saucepan, whisk ¼ cup flour and water. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until thick like paste. Let cool slightly—this creates ultra-soft rolls.


3️⃣ Mix & Knead the Dough

In a large bowl, combine starter, warm milk, yeast, sugar, egg, melted butter, salt, and remaining flour. Knead until smooth and elastic. Cover and let rise 1 hour until doubled.


4️⃣ Roll & Fill

Roll dough into a large rectangle. Spread butter evenly, then sprinkle with brown sugar and cinnamon. Drizzle with maple syrup and scatter half the chopped candied bacon.


5️⃣ Shape the Rolls

Roll tightly from the long edge and slice into 12 rolls. Arrange in a greased baking dish. Cover and rise again for 30 minutes.


6️⃣ Bake Until Golden

Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 25–30 minutes until puffed and golden brown.


7️⃣ Glaze & Finish

Whisk glaze ingredients and drizzle over warm rolls. Top with remaining candied bacon and serve immediately.
