Ingredients

For the Chicken

  • 1 lb boneless chicken (breast or thighs), cut into bite-sized pieces

  • 1 egg

  • Salt and black pepper, to taste

  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch

  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour

  • Oil, for frying

For the Chilli Sauce

  • 2 tablespoons oil

  • 3 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, minced

  • 2–3 tablespoons chili sauce

  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce

  • 1 tablespoon ketchup

  • 1 teaspoon vinegar

  • ½ teaspoon sugar

  • 1 small onion, sliced

  • 1 green bell pepper, sliced

  • 2 green chilies, slit (optional, for heat)

  • 2 green onions, chopped

Directions

1️⃣ Marinate the Chicken

In a bowl, combine chicken, egg, salt, pepper, cornstarch, and flour. Mix until chicken is well coated. Let rest for 10–15 minutes.

2️⃣ Fry the Chicken

Heat oil in a deep pan over medium-high heat. Fry chicken in batches until golden brown and crispy, about 4–5 minutes per batch. Remove and drain on paper towels.

3️⃣ Make the Chilli Sauce

In a wok or large skillet, heat 2 tablespoons oil over high heat. Add garlic and ginger; sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant.

Add onions, bell peppers, and green chilies. Stir-fry for 1–2 minutes until slightly tender but still crisp.

Stir in chili sauce, soy sauce, ketchup, vinegar, and sugar. Mix well.

4️⃣ Toss & Finish

Add fried chicken to the sauce and toss until fully coated. Cook for 1–2 minutes until glossy and sticky.

Garnish with green onions and serve hot.
