Spicy, Crispy, and Bursting with Flavor

Chilli Chicken is a classic Indo-Chinese favorite—crispy fried chicken tossed in a spicy, tangy sauce with a perfect balance of heat and aroma. It works beautifully as a main dish, appetizer, or even a party snack. Crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and coated in a bold chili sauce, it’s a dish that’s impossible to resist.


📝 Ingredients (Serves 2–3)

Chicken Marinade

  • 1 egg

  • Salt and black pepper, to taste

  • ½ lb boneless chicken, cut into bite-sized pieces

  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch

  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour

Sauce & Stir-Fry

  • 2–3 dried red chilies or 1–2 fresh green chilies, sliced

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 teaspoon ginger, minced

  • 1 small onion, sliced

  • 1 small bell pepper, sliced

  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce

  • 1 tablespoon chili sauce (adjust to taste)

  • 1 teaspoon vinegar

  • 1 teaspoon sugar

  • 2–3 tablespoons oil for frying

  • Chopped spring onions, for garnish


👩‍🍳 Instructions

1️⃣ Marinate the Chicken

  • Beat the egg and season with salt and pepper.

  • Add chicken pieces and coat well.

  • Toss with cornstarch and flour until evenly coated.


2️⃣ Fry the Chicken

  • Heat oil in a deep pan or wok over medium-high heat.

  • Fry chicken pieces in batches until golden brown and crispy.

  • Remove and drain on paper towels.


3️⃣ Prepare the Sauce

  • In a separate pan or wok, heat 2–3 tablespoons oil.

  • Sauté garlic, ginger, and chilies until fragrant.

  • Add onions and bell peppers, stir-frying briefly to keep them crisp.


4️⃣ Combine & Finish

  • Add fried chicken back into the pan.

  • Stir in soy sauce, chili sauce, vinegar, and sugar.

  • Toss everything together until chicken is coated evenly with sauce.


5️⃣ Serve

  • Garnish with chopped spring onions.

  • Serve hot with steamed rice, fried rice, or noodles.
