📝 Ingredients
(Serves 4)
For the Beef & Broccoli:
-
1½ pounds flank steak or sirloin, thinly sliced against the grain
-
4 cups broccoli florets
-
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
-
3 cloves garlic, minced
-
1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
For the Sauce:
-
½ cup low-sodium soy sauce
-
¼ cup beef broth
-
2 tablespoons brown sugar
-
1 tablespoon oyster sauce (optional but recommended)
-
1 tablespoon cornstarch
-
1 teaspoon sesame oil
-
½ teaspoon black pepper
-
Optional: pinch of red pepper flakes
👩🍳 Directions
1. Prepare the Beef
Slice the beef thinly against the grain—this is key for tender bites. Pat dry with paper towels to help it sear properly.
2. Make the Sauce
In a bowl, whisk together soy sauce, beef broth, brown sugar, oyster sauce, cornstarch, sesame oil, black pepper, and red pepper flakes if using. Set aside.
3. Cook the Broccoli
Bring a pot of water to a boil and blanch broccoli for 1–2 minutes, just until bright green. Drain and set aside. (You can also steam or stir-fry it.)
4. Sear the Beef
Heat oil in a large skillet or wok over high heat. Add beef in a single layer (work in batches if needed). Sear for 1–2 minutes per side until browned. Remove and set aside.
