  • 2 tablespoons pure maple syrup

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 2 large sweet potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced

  • 2 medium beets, peeled and thinly sliced

  • 1 cup heavy cream

  • ½ cup grated Gruyère or Parmesan cheese

  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted

  • Salt and pepper, to taste

  • ½ teaspoon fresh thyme leaves (optional)

  • ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg (optional)

  1. Preheat Oven
    Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9×9-inch (or similar size) baking dish with butter or cooking spray.

  2. Prepare Maple Mixture
    In a small bowl, combine maple syrup and minced garlic. Set aside.
