👩🍳 How to Make Soft & Fluffy Indian Fry Bread Tacos
1️⃣ Prepare the Fry Bread Dough
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, salt, and baking powder. Slowly add warm water while stirring with a spoon or your hands until a soft dough forms.
Knead gently for 2–3 minutes, just until smooth. The dough should be soft but not sticky. Cover and let rest for 10–15 minutes—this helps the bread fry up extra fluffy.
2️⃣ Divide & Shape the Dough
Divide the dough into 6–8 equal portions. Roll each piece into a ball, then flatten into a disc about ¼-inch thick. Use your fingers to poke a small hole in the center—this helps the bread cook evenly and puff beautifully.
3️⃣ Fry the Bread
Heat 1–2 inches of oil in a deep skillet over medium heat (about 350°F / 175°C).
Carefully place one dough disc into the hot oil. Fry for 1–2 minutes per side, flipping once, until golden brown and puffed.
Remove and drain on paper towels. Repeat with remaining dough.
4️⃣ Prepare the Taco Meat
In a skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef until browned. Drain excess fat, then add taco seasoning and water. Simmer for 5 minutes until thick and flavorful.
Warm the beans in a small saucepan or microwave.
