📋 Ingredients
Main Ingredients:
4 large potatoes (Choose starchy potatoes like Russets for the crispiest fries.)
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (For topping)
For the Voodoo Seasoning:
1 teaspoon paprika
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
½ teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust to taste for spice level)
½ teaspoon dried oregano
½ teaspoon dried thyme
½ teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon black pepper
🔧 Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Fries
Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) or heat oil in a deep fryer to 375°F (190°C) if frying.
Wash and peel the potatoes (or leave the skins on for extra texture).
Cut the potatoes into thin fries or wedges, depending on your preference.
If baking, toss the potatoes in a bowl with a drizzle of olive oil and a pinch of salt. If frying, you can skip this step as the fries will be crispy from the fryer.
Step 2: Bake or Fry the Fries
For Baking: Spread the fries in a single layer on a baking sheet. Bake for 30–35 minutes, flipping halfway through, until crispy and golden.
For Frying: Fry the potatoes in hot oil for 4–6 minutes until golden and crispy. Drain on paper towels.
Step 3: Make the Voodoo Seasoning
In a small bowl, mix together paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, oregano, thyme, salt, and black pepper.
Once your fries are done, sprinkle the voodoo seasoning evenly over the top, tossing gently to coat.
Step 4: Add Cheese
While the fries are still hot, sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese generously over them.
Optionally, pop them under the broiler for 2–3 minutes to melt the cheese and give it a bubbly golden finish.
Step 5: Serve & Enjoy
Serve the Louisiana Voodoo Fries hot, topped with a dollop of sour cream or your favorite dipping sauce (like ranch or spicy aioli).
Garnish with chopped green onions or cilantro for a burst of freshness.
🍴 Optional Toppings & Variations:
Crispy bacon bits
Jalapeños for an extra kick
Chopped parsley for color
Sriracha or hot sauce for even more heat
📦 Storage:
Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 2 days.
Reheat in the oven to maintain crispiness.
💡 Pro Tip:
For extra crispy fries, try soaking the cut potatoes in cold water for 30 minutes before baking or frying. This helps release excess starch and makes them crispier.
