Texas Roadhouse’s Rolls

Texas Roadhouse’s Rolls

Ingredients:
For the Rolls:
2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast (1 packet)
1/4 cup warm water (110°F)
1 cup warm milk (110°F)
3 tablespoons melted unsalted butter
1/4 cup sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1 large egg
4 cups all-purpose flour (plus extra for dusting)
For the Cinnamon Honey Butter:
1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
1/4 cup powdered sugar
1/4 cup honey
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Instructions:
1. Activate the yeast:
In a small bowl, dissolve the yeast in the warm water. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until it becomes foamy.
2. Make the dough:
In a large mixing bowl, combine the warm milk, melted butter, sugar, salt, and egg. Stir in the yeast mixture.
Gradually add the flour, 1 cup at a time, mixing until a soft dough forms. You can use a stand mixer with a dough hook or mix by hand.
3. Knead the dough:
Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 8-10 minutes (or 5-6 minutes with a mixer) until it is smooth and elastic. If the dough is too sticky, add a little more flour as needed.
4. Let the dough rise:
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a kitchen towel or plastic wrap, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until it doubles in size.
5. Shape the rolls:
Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out on a lightly floured surface to about 1/2-inch thickness.
Cut the dough into 2-inch squares or rectangles and place them on a greased baking sheet, about 1-2 inches apart.
Cover and let the rolls rise again for about 30-40 minutes.
6. Bake the rolls:
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
Bake the rolls for 12-15 minutes, or until they are golden brown on top.
7. Prepare the cinnamon honey butter:
While the rolls are baking, mix together the softened butter, powdered sugar, honey, and cinnamon in a small bowl until smooth and creamy.
8. Serve:
Brush the baked rolls with melted butter, if desired, and serve warm with the cinnamon honey butter.
