Sloppy Joe Casserole with Manwich

Sloppy Joe Casserole with Manwich

Ingredients:
1 lb ground beef (or ground turkey)
1 can Manwich Sloppy Joe sauce (15.5 oz)
1 can refrigerated biscuits (like Pillsbury Grands, 8 biscuits)
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese (divided)
1 can corn (15 oz, drained)
1 can green beans (15 oz, drained) or frozen (optional)
1/2 cup diced onions (optional)
Salt and pepper to taste
Cooking spray or butter for greasing the casserole dish

Directions:
Preheat the Oven:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch casserole dish with cooking spray or butter.
Cook the Ground Beef:
In a large skillet, cook the ground beef (or turkey) over medium heat until browned and fully cooked, breaking it up into small pieces as it cooks. Drain any excess fat, if necessary.
Add the Manwich Sauce:
Add the can of Manwich Sloppy Joe sauce to the skillet with the cooked beef. Stir to combine and let it simmer for 5 minutes to thicken slightly. If you’re adding diced onions or any other veggies (like green beans or corn), stir them in at this step.
Prepare the Base Layer:
Spread the Manwich and meat mixture evenly into the bottom of the prepared casserole dish. Sprinkle 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese on top of the mixture.
Add the Biscuits:
Open the can of refrigerated biscuits. Arrange the biscuits on top of the meat and cheese layer, making sure they’re evenly spaced out across the top.
Bake:
Bake the casserole in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the biscuits are golden brown and cooked through. If the biscuits start to brown too quickly, cover the casserole with aluminum foil and continue baking.
Add the Final Cheese Layer:
About 5 minutes before the casserole is done, remove it from the oven and sprinkle the remaining 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese on top of the biscuits. Return the casserole to the oven and bake until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
Serve:
Let the casserole cool for 5 minutes before serving. This dish can be enjoyed as-is or with a side salad for added greens.
