Lemon Basil Salmon Rolls
Ingredients:
8 ounces thinly sliced cooked salmon (instead of smoked salmon)
4 ounces cream cheese, softened
2 tablespoons plain Greek yogurt (or sour cream for extra richness)
Zest of 1 lemon
Juice of 1/2 lemon
1/4 cup fresh basil leaves, finely chopped
Salt and black pepper, to taste
For Garnish (Optional):
Fresh basil leaves
Lemon wedges
Capers
Dill sprigs
Directions:
1. Prepare the Filling:
In a medium bowl, combine softened cream cheese, Greek yogurt (or sour cream), lemon zest, lemon juice, and finely chopped basil.
Mix until smooth and well combined.
Season with salt and black pepper to taste. Set aside.
2. Assemble the Rolls:
Lay a slice of cooked salmon flat on a clean surface.
Spread about 1–2 teaspoons of the cream cheese mixture evenly over the salmon slice, leaving a small border around the edges.
Starting at one end, roll the salmon slice tightly into a cylinder to enclose the filling.
Repeat with the remaining salmon slices.
3. Chill the Rolls:
Place the assembled rolls seam-side down on a plate or tray.
Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 20–30 minutes to firm up and allow the flavors to blend.
4. Garnish and Serve:
Arrange the chilled salmon rolls on a serving platter.
Garnish with fresh basil leaves, lemon wedges, capers, or dill sprigs if desired.
Serve cold or at room temperature with additional lemon wedges for squeezing.
