Buckeyes: A Sweet Tradition Passed Down Through Generations

Buckeyes: A Sweet Tradition Passed Down Through Generations

Every year, without fail, I make Buckeyes. These little peanut butter and chocolate treats are a staple in my kitchen, and they bring back so many cherished memories.

The Perfect Buckeye Recipe 🍫🥜

To make these delicious treats, you’ll need:

  • 1 stick of real butter 🧈
  • 1 jar of Jif peanut butter 🥜
  • Powdered sugar (measured by feel 😉)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract 🌿
  • Semi-sweet chocolate chips for dipping 🍫

How I Make Them 👩‍🍳

I’ve been making these for so long that I no longer measure the powdered sugar. I just keep adding it until I reach the perfect consistency to roll them into smooth, round balls. Once shaped, I place them in the freezer for a few minutes—this helps them hold their shape when dipping them into the rich, melted chocolate.

I use toothpicks to dip each peanut butter ball into the chocolate, leaving just a little peanut butter exposed to keep that signature Buckeye look. Then, I take the back of a spoon and carefully smooth over the hole left by the toothpick to give them a flawless finish.

A Special Family Tradition ❤️

This recipe is more than just a sweet treat—it’s a family tradition that I hold dear. My grandmother made these every year, and I proudly continue the tradition, making sure every bite is just as perfect as I remember from my childhood. Sometimes, I like to get creative and drizzle a little extra chocolate on top to make them look extra fancy. 😆
