Philly Cheesesteak Meatloaf
Ingredients:
1 lb ground beef
1/2 lb ground pork
1 cup bread crumbs
1/2 cup milk
1 large egg
1 small onion, finely chopped
1 green bell pepper, finely chopped
1 cup mushrooms, finely chopped
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
Salt and black pepper, to taste
1 cup shredded provolone cheese
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
1/2 cup mayonnaise
1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon ketchup
2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese (optional, for topping)
Directions:
Prepare the Vegetables:
Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the chopped onion, bell pepper, and mushrooms. Cook until softened, about 5-7 minutes. Set aside to cool slightly.
Mix the Meatloaf:
In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, ground pork, bread crumbs, milk, egg, garlic powder, onion powder, dried thyme, dried oregano, salt, and black pepper.
Gently mix in the cooked vegetables.
Shape and Bake:
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
Form the meat mixture into a loaf shape and place it on the prepared baking sheet.
In a small bowl, mix together the mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, and ketchup. Spread this mixture evenly over the top of the meatloaf.
Sprinkle the shredded provolone and mozzarella cheese on top. If using, sprinkle the grated Parmesan cheese over the top as well.
Cook the Meatloaf:
Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes, or until the meatloaf reaches an internal temperature of 160°F (71°C) and is cooked through.
Rest and Serve:
Allow the meatloaf to rest for about 10 minutes before slicing. This helps the juices redistribute and makes for cleaner slices.
Serve:
Serve the meatloaf warm with your favorite sides, such as mashed potatoes, green beans, or a simple salad.
